ACHILL SECRET GARDEN |
The garden at Bleanaskill Lodge, that Alexander Williams laid out before the First World War, much added to and improved over the years, is now open to the public. A woodland garden with an ornamental pond and lawns, the three acres have been divided into contrasting areas. one leading into the next, so that the visitor can stroll through the garden with a sense of exploration. Native trees and shrubs have been combined with many exotics, including the Chinese euonymous E. cornutus and the Chilean hazel Gevuinea avella. Bleanaskill Lodge is to be found on the Atlantic Drive, Achill Sound, not far from Grace O'Malley's Castle. See also Willem & Doutsje Van Goor's website: www.achill-art-garden.com |
